Chinese representative calls for permanent ceasefire in Gaza Strip

Article Content

The Chinese permanent representative to the United Nations called for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in a speech at an open session of the UN Security Council on the Palestine-Israel issue on November 24. Civilians continue to experience sufferings and disasters in the region, he said, adding that Israel has already violated the ceasefire agreement more than 400 times and killed over 300 inhabitants of the region. He demanded Israel comprehensively abide by the ceasefire agreement and stop the settlement construction that destroys the foundation for the building of an independent state of Palestine. He stressed that the international community should oppose any unilateral action of Israel and support Palestine to build an independent state and become a full member of the UN as soon as possible.
