General training hall and lodging quarters for sportspersons inaugurated

The general training hall and lodging quarters for sportspersons of the Sports Club of the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport have newly been built in Pyongyang in a distinctive style under the benevolent care of the Workers' Party of Korea. The new sports facilities include the general training hall with a swimming pool, indoor general training ground and sci-tech learning space, the lodging quarters for sportspersons equipped with all living conditions, a place for keeping maritime sports apparatuses and an anchorage with a total floor space of over 20 000 square metres. They form a base to lead the development of the country's maritime sports. An inauguration ceremony took place on the spot on November 19. Present there were officials of the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport, officials concerned, players, coaches and employees of the sports club and officials of relevant units which contributed to the construction. Kang Jong Gwan, minister of Land and Maritime Transport, made an inaugural address. At the end of the ceremony the participants looked round the general training hall, lodging quarters for sportspersons and others. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors. And the paper also provides a vast knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Pyongyang.
