The Venezuelan Vice-President condemned the US’ manoeuvre to plunder the natural resources of his country in a speech at an international forum he took part in by way of videoconferencing on October 23. Saying that the US is posing a warlike threat to countries in the Caribbean region to disrupt cooperation in the energy sector related to Venezuela in the region, he branded it as a scheme to extort crude oil and gas. He stressed that Venezuela will defend its sovereign rights in the issue of using its natural resources. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper.
