A spokesman for the Chinese Ministry of Commerce censured the US Department of Commerce for including several Chinese entities in the list of export control entities at a press conference on October 10. He urged the US to immediately rectify its misbehaviour, accusing it of abusing the export control measure and imposing sanctions on several entities including Chinese enterprises while broadly interpreting the “concept of national security”. That day, referring to an incident in which a Chinese citizen entering the US was groundlessly interrogated, detained and sent back to China, the spokesman said that China expresses strong dissatisfaction with and strongly decries it. Saying that the US severely infringed on the legitimate rights and interests, personalities and dignity of Chinese citizens and extremely hampered normal personal travel between the two countries, he stressed that China would safeguard the just and legitimate rights and interests of its citizens abroad in the future.
