National sculpture and craftwork festival opens

The Sixth National Sculpture and Craftwork Festival opened in Pyongyang to celebrate the 77th founding anniversary of the DPRK. Presented to the festival were more than 280 art pieces created by sculptors and craftsmen at the fine art studios, fans and students from across the country. An opening ceremony took place at the Pyongyang International House of Culture on September 4. Present there were Ri Yong Nam, deputy department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned, participants in the festival and working people in the city. An opening address was made by Minister of Culture Sung Jong Gyu. The Pyongyang Times, launched on May 6, 1965, is the DPRK's only English newspaper. It gives latest, detailed information about what is going on in the country in politics, the economy, culture and other sectors. And the paper also provides a vast knowledge of the nooks and crannies of Pyongyang.
